Project Firstline — ANA & CDC Infection Prevention & Control Training

The American Nurses Association (ANA), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has launch “Project Firstline” – an educational program focused on “infection prevention and control (IPC) training” for the national health care workforce.

“Using resources allocated to the CDC by Congress, Project Firstline will invest $180 million over 2 years to reach all health care workers in all settings.”

The project is aimed at providing training materials to the nation’s 4.2 million nurses. In a variety of mediums – web-based training, mentorships and partner engagement, nurses will take part in training to learn decision-making for daily practice in Infection Prevention and Control.

Nurses – an essential part of healthcare delivery – are on the frontlines every day. Patients spend more time with a nurse than any other healthcare professional. Nurses deserve to have the knowledge of IPC training and apply it in their daily work environments. COVID-19 has certainly accelerated the urgency for healthcare workers to have the IPC training to protect themselves and the nation from infections diseases.
